Day 274-275 Sailing with family, Small things

Sailing Just calm day 4-6 kn find and almost no waves on the bay, round trip sail 16 miles. Get out 4 year old  grand daughter , older son and his wife. It was very hot day, we ended up switch AC on from inverter to let kid little fresh space to rest.  After 3 hours we agreed to get back to dock to let family travel back home in reasonable time.Just pictures of other boats on the bay this day.    Small things  Boat network Replaced on board wifi router. New router is 2 and 5Ghz wifi, provides VPN to home router, so i can setup system backup and get access to monitor boat remotely.  software  Vibe-coded  plugin for OpenCPN to show true wind on the map. Blue arrow shows wind on the map. Likely later I will add  lee lines as well. Refrigerator Found it not switching on compressor. after 3 years small relay contacts inside the cheap thermostat fail. Looking dipper... likely fail is due to it is loaded with coil of 30A relay and likely that ...

Day 256-257, Fixing wind instrument, installing AIS receiver and many small things.

24 small things was done in 2 weekend days Radar installed    Mast Check mast longitudinal angle. Portside lower shrouds - fix pin on spreaders root. during stepping mast up pin holding lowers on port side slide out of the intended position. I had to easy lowers and push it back to place. Install VHF antenna and test SWR - (Measured SWR 1.3). Just put antenna back to place. Install radar to the mast. Simple, but it the bracket appeared slightly deformed and rear holes ended up not aligned and i had to drill them out to provide some gaps and be able to put bolts in. Other challenge - lift Radar to the mast safely, but it is round and has no features to tie rope to it ;-) Install ring camera to radar mount. Drilled 3 holes and riveted mounting plate for Ring camera to be able to observe what is going on on the docks, especially when really bad weather hits. Put mainsail and sail pack back to the boat. Just put them back and connected the pack lazy jack back up to the m...

Day 210, Finalized sailpack, Radar, Standing rigging (measurements), calm sailing .

Sail pack   Finalized sail pack, put cheek block on the mast and adjusted all lines. [Sorry, no pictures now, will update later]    Electronics I have got great present from the son.  Radar, yes it is B&G (Navico) Halo20+ .   Sure i do not need it here in the lake, but as soon as i plan to bring boat to big water, it will be very good add-on to my navigation electronics setup. No sense to make the mount right now (before transportation) but will be nice to test its compatibility  with my OpenCPN setup. I designed  "cheap and dirty" radar bracket to tie radar to the mast for testing. Cut and it on my CNC from plywood and glue together. Next weekend plan to get radar on the water and see how it's work.      Standing rigging  Measuring angles of the shrouds.   Took picture from far away point to get closer to real angles.

Day 205, Fixed windows trim frames, finishing AC cabinet, 12V outlets installation, several small things complete.

Day 206, New Fixed windows trim installation.   Interior (small things) Fixed windows  New trim around fixed windows made out of teak and installed. each trim piece made of 4 parts. all cut on my workshop CNC out of teak wood. Only thing left here - paint the gap between window and trim.    Other things done today Made and  installed Door-cover under the AC inlet. LPG sensor - alarm installed. I installed the alarm ind found it is alarming all time. I am pretty sure I have no LPG on the board.  I bought the sensor several years ago, and it was on the boat all the time and likely was "poisoned" by paint thinners fumes. Ordering a replacement. Other small things Replaced engine overheat dumb lamp fixture (original had rubber disintegrated) .   In attempt to tight engine (ignition) switch  I broke it, by break line it was cracked for a while.  Good to get it broken at the dock ;-)   Connected compass light back, added connector f...

Day 196 (At the desk) Navpod design

Navigation electronics. Working on navpod for OpenPlotter dashboard.  Idea to make pedestal guard mounted  dashboard in navpod looking form. Dashboard will work under OpenPlotter, I am planning to  make button controls (without touch). In my perspective buttons are much more easy to use in cockpit. Script will control applications Steat/foreground/background control. Also it will be mouse simulation   with arrows buttons IF i will need to do do something "non standard", but i expect to use this display as dashboard only. there will be several modes: Map screen (preset OCPN) VNC ( show main navigation screen copy) Sailing dashboard - big wind instrument, speedometer with SOG, STW, day log, DEPTH, Position, COG Engine dashboard - small wind instrument, Tachometer, engine coolant out temperature, oil pressure , aditional temperature gauges (coolant in, exhaust, transmission, drive shaft packing, raw water after exchanger)  and sure  SOG, STW, day log, DEP...

Day 195, Navigation electronics final installation.

Navigation electronics   Couple pictures for reference:  Nav station deck. Nav station deck with water and fuel gauges, secondary switch panel and 21" protected display. electronics shown on the previous photo is behind the display. Display flips down to get access there.     Front side of the secondary switch panel. Panel includes small 2.5" thermal printer to be able to quickly print current position, course information or anything in printed form. Start point All electronics installation I did year ago was done in "temporary mode" with flying wires, not organized. Just get it work for day sailing the lake.  More for fun then actually needed.   Electronics was mounted on plywood board with velcro  tape. Wires between fuse panel and Switch panel was total ratnest and it was impossible to remove switch panel for any maintenance without unscrew 15 wires from the fuse panel.    All electronics wad mounted w/o any protection from elem...
