 Engine, fuel and propulsion

  • 2024 Fuel tank rebuilt, fixed voids in laminate, fuel safe epoxy inliner added with 9 oz cloth and 2 layers of clean epoxy added, made new solid fiberglass lid and glued it to tank. 
  • 2024 Added review lid in the top of the tank. baffle wall added.
  • 2024 Electrical fuel level gauge installed.
  • 2024 Added return fitting to fuel tank.
  •  2024 Emergency/service electric fuel pump added.
  • 2024 Added 2 stage fuel pre-filter/separator/polisher 30 and 10 micron.
  • 2025 Engine hauled out for check
    • Compression checked 395 psi.
    • Fuel filter cleaned and replaced.
    • Injector tips(nozzles) replaced and checked 2200psi open, no leak
    • Injection timing fixed to 22degree (originally was set at 15deg. caused fuel smoke over 2000rpm).
    • Valves gaps adjusted to spec.

  • 2025 Engine mount blocks re-laminated to hull, cross-member rebuilt.

Galley

  • 2023 Replaced Galley countertop
  • 2023 Rebuilt Galley cabinets
  • 2023 Installed new faucet 
  • 2023 New LPG line  and valve installed.
  • 2022 LPG tank  drain tube re-glassed
  • Added sliding drawer in the cavity  under starboard cockpit sit.
  • 2024 Gimbaled shelf for the microwave installed under cooking surface

Head

  • 2023 Made new cabinet in the Head.
  • 2023 Made folding door to the Head. (original was lost.
  • 2023 Head walls glassed to in-liner to prevent shower water to damage bulkheads.
  • 2023 Head painted with 2 part paint.
  • 2023 Installed new faucet.
  • 2023 Dorades box built for Head ventilation, fan installed. 
  • 2023 Installed water level sensors for fresh water tanks and gauge for waste water tank.

 Ports and hatches

  • 2022 Installed all new port lights. 
  • 2024 Installed new deck hatches 
  • 2024 Replaced companionway hatch, new wood parts made.
  • 2021 Rebuilt top washboard and made new bottom parts.

 

Exterior/deck

  • 2024 Whole deck and cabin top surface voids and cracks glassed, patched.
  • 2024 Repaint deck with Interlux Perfection hard polyurethane 2 part paint.
  • 2024 No-skid deck surface redone with Kiwigrp.

Interior
  • 2023 40 years old headliner replaced with removable foamed PVC panels.
  • 2023 Built new closed shelves on starboard side  of the main cabin .
  • 2023 Built open shelves on Port side of the main cabin .
  • 2023 New teak cabin table.
  • 2023 Made new Cabinet for the HVAC in front cabin.
  • 2023 All cabinets get roll up doors. Custom made.
  • 2024 New cabin sole hard flooring.
  • 2024 Whole interior gelcoat surface "deep cleaning".

Day 183 1/5/25 Take engine home.

Engine Take engine from the boat and move to home garage. Easy to say, hard to do. Water level in the lake now is 40ft below normal level. And total height drop between parking lot and docks about 70-80ft.  Marina has no lift, ramp or crane to move something more than 200 lb up way. Only way is very long stairs with 140 steps.   View form the parking lot...    Staircase we climbed up. Yes, you can see the lift, but it is only 200lb capacity and no way to use. Picture was made on the middle of the process. Based on engine spec it has to weight 400 lb. It is a lot but should be more or less bearable weight for 3-4 people. Challenge was accepted, but looks like it is heavy enough to do a problem ;-) Moving from boat to dock was very easy, just hook chain hoist to boom lift it  and swing boom to the dock. put on a dolly and roll it to staircase. After an hour of planning we (My son and I) decided to use blocks and ropes to slide it up. We mounted engine on the plywo...

Day 138, 4/6, Deck priming, 2 days, 8 hours total

 Deck Spent a day to wipe all to clean, then de-greaser, then solvent, and then priming.  Surface area is not too big, but still be ~400 sq.ft.    I did wiping and cabin top at one day, cockpit and area next to toe rails in second one. Primed only area plan to paint glossy. non-skid paint does not require priming, just washing with detergent, but it will be later.  Observed two problems  first - rolling and tipping leaving brush marks  even when 25% solvent added. Second - (actually helps to maintain first) I need second layer because  one layer of primekote does not covering well. So, I plan one more gallon of primer and one mode day to of sanding and one more day of priming.   End of day1     End of day 2

Bosch 18V Li-ION battery cam repair

 I had one of my 18V batteries broken cam which locks battery on the place on the tool. I broke it years ago and used masking tape to hold it. it came too annoying. so i modeled and 3D printed new cam.    AMF STL STEP
