Day 202, New cushions - finished, Engine mounts replacing, New 4G/wifi router, little sailing.

Engine

Replaced engine mounts with Ellebogen GT-SDD55 (#120450-06802)  recommended by Ellebogen sales representative.

Originally I planned  to use  some hoist to lift engine, but problem on I34 there is companionway above the engine. the I think about carjack, but there not enough space to locate under engine to lift whole engine together and be able to level it.

Thanks forum. Some guy suggested to use basketball ball as lift bag. And it works absolutely well.

with $9 basketball ball pushed deflated  between carter and bilge floor 400 lb engine was lifted easy, even mode, unlike jacks ball provides you some freedom to move engine side to side.

Engine set back and tested. all works well.

 New mounts in place.

 Interior

Finished installation of back pillows for settees. Now we look much better

Special word about latches. Original latches was just friction type, means if something more or less heavy stored inside lockers, it will push and open the sit back and find way to fly over the cabin (and it is not very god thing). I want latches with "positive lock" mechanism. I looked around, but it was pretty hard to find something fitting there.  I designed and 3d printed custom latches.

3D model files for leches. they were printed with PTEG material.

Each latch consists of 3 parts and stainless spring (I used 0.6x6x30 compression springs).

Top body (box), bottom body(plate) and latch tongue

Latch parts require about 40g of filament, total cost about $1 per latch + about $0.8 for filament and $0.20 for the spring.

 Assembled latch.

Couple sections showing internal construction.

Internet

I tied to fight with 4G wifi hotspot + wifi client station + router combination to provide internet connection to my openplotter on board computer to be able to monitor and work on software setup remotely.

As result I found pretty  cheap 4G-WIFI-ETHERNET router in IP 67 envelope designed to be installed in outdoor environment. Also it has POE capability, and you do not need dedicated power cable for it.

With it I was able to replace 3 independent things with one device, and as bonus, have opportunity to mount 4G router on the mast. So far, it works great even inside the cabin ( mounted next to port window) providing up to 8Mb/sec in a very challenge place where cellular phone barely receives calls.

Sailing

Get out for couple hours afternoon sailing.

 Bonus
