Lifelines New lines installed. As soon as boat is in drying lake I did not rush lifelines installation, but this week I have  invited friends family  with two kids about 7 years old, so lines appeared to be absolutely essential even if anybody can just swim to hard. Lake in widest place not exceed 3000 ft. I decided to use 1/4 Samson AmSteel® 12-Strand Dyneema,  https://sregear.com/products/1-4-gray-amsteel-600-spool  For now I did only top line. I measured 27ft on each side, added 3ft for splicing and multiply 2 total 6ft  should be more than enough. Right? WRONG, because there 4 splicings on each side - not 2. Why?... enter gate. And I figured it out right when went to make last splice ;-)  Ok, will buy more when order rope for bottom line.   It was my first Brummel Eye Splice, looks not bad For the entry gate I put rope Thimble on one side and original Pelican Hook. I grind and polished hook eye to make it easy on rope. I admit, it is too small ra...

Stanchions How it should be made  Picture from Irwin site. Construction problems:  Stanchions are empty pipes - and water can easy get in it Water is running down to wood block. Woodblock has no drain, so water collects there and problem is not visible until it rotted completely. Pipe is welded to flange but tot as continues line and has some gaps as well. Flange mounted with short food screws  to the deck.   What was found:    During manufacturing workers messed the design and drilled holes in about 1" farther from hull edge, as result pipes did not went to the wood blocks and appeared "in the air". To hide this they added nice laminate but did not fill it and just sick some not even soaked fiber cloth. Also this mistake resulted  the sealant has to be filled in cavity bout 1/4 inch  between flange and deck, it was also point leading to failure. Previous owner tried to screw stanchions to toe rail adding some bracket , but it did not hel...

Dock New dock place, new ducks.  As soon as I moved to another dock and it is even more narrow than I had before, literally 10 inch wider than beam. I  had to figure out what to do with dock corners to get to dock more or less safe. \   Electrical 3000W Inverter. Inverter "Dry" test to run Air conditioner. Tested with one Dual purpose battery as source. My litium batteries are still under construction. Air conditioner works well, Maximum load notified - 1200W. So far so good.   Small (400W) inverter Checked  with refrigerator - works well. Refrigerator tag says 0.8A so it is way below  Cockpit drains Tested drains, found my older son who helped me last week did not tight clamps. inconvenience is fixed. Wind instrument Custom mount for mast top wind instrument.  Cut it from solid aluminum 2x2x5" aluminum block. Little bit too much shavings ;) Main cut is finished. Now need to drill holes in it.
